How Border Patrol Handles Transfer of Methamphetamines

How Border Patrol Handles Transfer of Methamphetamines

The United States Border Patrol have been busy in their attempts to apprehend illegal immigrants
Two women were arrested and detained recently due to their attempt to carry a bundle of methamphetamine into the United States. Border Patrol apprehended them near a Border Patrol checkpoint, which are areas set up to try to deter illegal and unlawful entry into the United States.
What made this particular arrest stand out for the Border Patrol was that the amount of methamphetamine that the women tried to smuggle in was one of the largest amount of methamphetamine that was ever attempted to smuggle into the United States. The women were attempting to sneak passed the United States Border Patrol with 50 pounds of methamphetamine, a deadly and highly-addictive drug.
This historical arrest by the United States Border Patrol was due to the help of the specialized K9 unit, a branch of the United States Border Patrol that works with police dogs to investigate the possible possession of drugs ad weapons. The Border Patrol became suspicious when the women who were stopped at the check point were targeted by the dogs that make up the K9 unit. The large amount of methamphetamine was found by the Border Patrol in the rear of the SUV that the two illegal immigrant women were driving.
Special attention was paid to this case by the border control because of the astounding methamphetamine amount, the largest in history. The illegal immigrants had a specially built access panel on the floor of the vehicle above the gas tank – it was inside the gas tank that the United States Border Patrol found the 50 pounds of methamphetamine. The street value of the large amount of methamphetamine was estimated to be worth roughly $1.1 million by the United States Border Patrol.
Both of the women were under the age of 21 years old and had their small children in the car along with the illegal substances. They were all illegal immigrants and the children were returned to their fathers after the women were taken into custody by the United States Border Patrol.
Notorious drug busts are often news covered by the Border Patrol. Many task forces are assigned to detect and stop drug smuggling.

Job Description

Job Description

To be a border patrol agent, one of the most important immigration jobs one may obtain, one’s career must center on the stifling of illegal entry onto American soil, as well as the prevention of potential terrorist acts. A border patrol agent has many different job duties that may vary depending on the current issues and location of the agent. Immigration jobs, such as border patrol agents, are a vital part of the country’s immigration system.
One of the jobs of the United States Border Patrol involves working with other law enforcement agencies to try to stop the flow of illegal immigrants over the Mexican and Canadian borders. Border patrol agents are also stationed surrounding Florida in hopes of preventing Cuban Haitian crime.
The job of the border patrol agent is not a typical 40-hour-a-week job. Most border patrol agents work roughly 60 hours per week. No matter what the time of day, there are Border Patrols agents on duty. There are certain job duties that a Border Patrol agent does on a regular basis.
These are the tasks that are delegated through a team of border patrols. These possible tasks are called line watch. Line watch can refer to several different duties such as traffic checking, patrol, detecting drugs and other contraband, traffic watching and apprehending illegal immigrants. Line watch also refers to the job of watching air traffic.
Border Patrol agents live where they work. After boot-camp, they are stationed in any number of locations. Most of these locations are along the border of Mexico; particularly in Texas, Arizona and southern California. Although a border patrol agent cannot guarantee that they will be stationed in the location they desire, a border patrol agent has the option to make a preference list of the eight sectors along the Northern border. Ultimately, the border patrol agent will be stationed where needed, although preference will try to be taken into account.
Since the attacks that occurred on September 11th, it is the job of many border patrols to investigate possible terrorist plots and apprehend the perpetrators, if necessary.

How Does Border Patrol Handle Cash Smuggling?

How Does Border Patrol Handle Cash Smuggling?

The USA border patrol commonly find illegal items on both illegal immigrants and United States citizens attempting to cross the USA border. One of the most common things found by the USA border patrol is large quantities of drugs: cocainemarijuanamethamphetamine
Traffic stops, checkpoints, and inspection stations are common security measures utilized in order to apprehend individuals attempting to smuggle drugs, money, and at times, human beings across the USA border. In fact, an individual will in many cases attempt to cross the USA border and be subjected to many of these checkpoints; such was the case when an individual was apprehended with over $18,000 of unverified cash.
In many cases, the USA border control K9 unit was an imperative part of this arrest. Not only are the USA border patrol trained dogs able to pinpoint drug locations on people and in cars, no matter how camouflaged, but they are also able to pick up the scent of money.
After the amount of money was found on one of the individuals, a quick check by the USA border patrol determined that the two individuals had extensive criminal backgrounds. This is not uncommon when finding drugs or large amounts of unverified currency on individuals attempting to cross the USA border.
However, the USA border patrol was still forced to let the two suspects leave since they had no drugs in their possession. However, the USA border patrol did seize the unverified cash, since the individuals could not prove that it was obtained in a legal manner.
Crossing the USA border for criminals does not always result in their serving time in jail, although the USA border patrol will almost definitely seize the funds that are found. The smuggling of cash across the USA Border presents specific concerns to border patrol agents due to the suspected illicit activities that funded the large amounts of cash. Recent violence around the border exacerbates this concern as many prominent and dangerous gang members traffic weapons and drugs over the border.
It should also be mentioned that, although these individuals who the USA border patrol apprehended had criminal records, they had no outstanding warrants. Had the two individuals held prior criminal records, the USA border patrol would have had the legal right to detain them.

Domestic Involvement

Domestic Involvement

An employer who hires an illegal immigrant is subject to legal repercussions. Oftentimes, this does not stop the employers from hiring them anyway, thus affecting the workforce of the United States.
The priorities of a border patrol agent have changed somewhat in the past few years. No longer does a border patrol officer, or immigration officer, concentrate only on keeping immigrants out of the United States through the patrol of the border of United States and Mexico. A Border patrol agent is also supposed to be responsible for investigating employers that are suspected of having illegal immigrants working from them.
In 1986, to help border patrol officers do their jobs more efficiently, the Immigration Reform and Control Act increased efforts to control illegal immigration. The Border Patrol was asked to step up their efforts to find these employers that were hiring illegal aliens. A program, known as employer sanctions, was set up to be able to legally investigate these businesses. This program would require stricter documentation that employees would have to supply legally before being hired.
These employer sanctions did not provide the help for which Congress had hoped. Despite these sanctions, illegal immigration rates continued to rise. As a result of this, Proposition 187 was past in 1993, which denied any benefits to illegal aliens. Proposition 187 was a well known proposal throughout the United States.
In the 1990’s, Congress ordered the border patrol to shift their attention from the interior workforce to the border again. In the Immigrant Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996, Congress admitted that the employer sanctions were not working because of fake documentation that was being created by the black market. They decided to try to correct the problem. The same proposal of requiring stricter documentation was tested and determined to be adequate. Once again, the border patrol agent was supposed to be able to find more illegal immigrants in the workforce.

Common Crimes

Common Crimes

In Border Patrol news, another man who was apprehended while trying to illegally cross the border was found to have a criminal record comprised of both a rape and battery charge. Because of the Border Patrol requirements, this alarming information was found when the man was investigated and then fingerprinted in the Integrated Automated Fingerprint Identification System. The illegal immigrant was held for further investigation, per Border Patrol requirements, when it was found that he had been sentenced to a year in prison for the Rape and Battery charge.
Another incident, according to Border Patrol news, was the apprehension of two separate men who had been arrested for performing “lewd or lascivious acts” with a child under the age of 14 years old. It is because the Border Patrol requirements that exist include the automatic finger-printing of any illegal immigrant, a lot of their criminal histories were discovered.
Another illegal immigrant who was caught sneaking into the United States had a criminal history of forced sexual acts with a spouse. He was held for further questioning because of the Border Patrol news information that is attainable thanks to the Integrated Automatic Fingerprint Identification System. It has also been common in recent Border Patrol news that illegal immigrants that have been arrested or convicted for crimes of a sexual nature were detained crossing the border into America.

Can Someone Volunteer For Border Patrol?

Can Someone Volunteer For Border Patrol? The job of a Border Patrolillegal immigrants The Minutemen Border Patrol began as a group of vigilantes There has been a lot of controversy surrounding these volunteer Border Patrol groups, with a lot of attention paid in particular to the minutemen Border Patrol groups. Some agree wholeheartedly with what they are doing: California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has praised what the minutemen Border Patrol do. However, former-President George W. Bush criticized the program. His argument was that, at best, these volunteer Border Patrols promoted vigilante justice.

The Minutemen Border Patrol group has also been criticized as being racist. The American Civil Liberties Union even went to the borders to watch the volunteer Border Patrol group in action, checking to see if they were using unnecessary force or illegal tactics. Stories have circulated for some time about the Minutemen Border Patrol group having corruption amongst its members, with some taking bribes and others setting up illegal immigrants to be caught on United States territory by luring them over the Mexican border and into the United States.

There have been several incidents that have been brought to the attention of the media. One well publicized occurrence was a protest led by roughly 40 students at Columbia University. The students were said to have stormed the stage after a lecture by two Minutemen board members. The men had been invited to speak on behalf of the Minutemen Border Patrol.

Although there is controversy surrounding the volunteer Border Patrol groups, particularly the Minutemen Border Patrol, there is still a strong level of support for their cause.

An Overview of Controversial Border Control

An Overview of Controversial Border Control

The controversy surrounding various immigration policies is a constant source of battle amongst both politicians as well as the American public. Illegal immigration brings out incredibly strong opinions in people, and one of the issues that seems to always take center-stage is border control. One concern would be how illegal immigrants who attempt to come into the United States should be handled. Border patrol agents specialize in dealing with these illegal immigrants who attempt to cross the border. Whether these border patrol agents are paid or volunteer, they have the same common goal: keep illegal immigrants from crossing the United States border and prevent terrorist attacks.

Overview of Application and Job
Applicants who are interested in joining the border patrol must go through an application process that is similar to joining the military. The application can be filled out on the Internet; the individual will then have to be screened and drug tested before entering the border patrol boot camp, or the United States Border Patrol Academy. The job itself will involve tracking the Mexican/American border, looking for illegal immigrants who are trying the enter the United States on foot or by vehicle. Other specializations may be undertaken, depending on the individual, as some may decided to join a special branch of the border patrol.

Uniform and Various Insignia
Insignias are meant to show rank amongst the agents and officials in the border patrol. Their will be a design, usually a star or a number of stars. on the collar of the border patrol uniform, as well as a shoulder patch that consists of a number of stripes; again these depend on the rank. Regular dress uniforms are olive green with a blue stripe running down the pant leg. Ceremonial uniforms are the same, with added accessories such as blue shoulder straps, a blue tie, cuffs, and white gloves. Rough-duty uniforms are olive green cargo pants along with a work shirt, usually in blue or black.

Criticisms of Border Patrol
There are several criticisms of border patrol. One is that it doesn’t work, since illegal immigrants still enter the United States in large numbers; statistically about 500,000 illegal immigrants will sneak into the United States each year. The second is that is possibly harmful, as some immigrants have complained of physical abuse suffered at the hands of the border patrol. The third is that border patrol can become corrupted, with the border patrolmen taking bribes in return for allowing illegal immigrants to enter the United States undetected.

Uniform and Various Insignia of the Border Patrol

Uniform and Various Insignia of the Border Patrol

The Border Patrol has a variety of uniforms that they wear, depending on their rank and job specialization. They have dress uniforms, ceremonial uniforms, rough duty uniforms, and insignias, which are logos on the collar of their shirts according to rank; they are arranged in order from one star to four as well as other designs. Insignias will tell an individual the title and rank that the other individual holds. Border patrol hats differ from uniform to uniform as well.
The dress uniform is the patrol uniform with fatigue-green pants with a blue stripe running down the leg. There is also a fatigue-green shirt; this shirt will sometimes have shoulder straps that are blue. The border patrol hat that is worn with this uniform is called a campaign hat.
The ceremonial uniform is like the dress uniform, although some added accessories are required . An olive green jacket with blue shoulder straps, cuffs, and a tie along with white gloves are added to the dress uniform to make it a ceremonial uniform. The border patrol hats that are associated with the ceremonial uniforms are campaign hats that have leather bands; these border patrol hats are also the same green as the actual uniforms.
The rough duty uniform is called this because of the duties that are often performed while wearing it. The rough duty uniform is worn when doing the difficult day-to-day tasks that border patrol agents perform. This uniform is simple and consists of olive green cargo pants and a work shirt; depending on the weather, the shirt may have long or short sleeves. The border patrol hat that one is required to wear with the rough duty uniform is usually a regular matching green baseball hat.
There are other things that one may be required to wear. Different border patrol hats and shoes in coordinating colors such as blue or black may be necessary at times. The border patrol uniform, along with all accessories such as border patrol hats, will soon be updated for the first time since the 1950’s. The request is for the uniforms to copy a military style rather than those of the police force. Eventually, hats assigned to border patrol agents are expected to change as well.
Insignias change depending on the rank and job requirements of the individual. Each job title in different locations possesses different insignias. For example, the Chief of the Border Patrol – one of the top border patrol positions – who is located in the Border Patrol Headquarters has an insignia that consists of four silver stars on the collar, as well as a gold plated shoulder ornament.

Does Border Patrol Work?

Does Border Patrol Work?

Acting on behalf of the DHS, which stands for the Department of Homeland Security1. Incidences of corruption: Local law enforcement officers, which people may understand from personal experience or may get an idea of from popular media, are capable of wrongdoing along with their pledge to serve and protect. As officers at the local level are conscripted into service, it is not unreasonable to think that with the influx of both officers of the law and civilians, some instances of corruption might hit the Border Patrol.
USA laws, of course, dictate that any drugs carried by smugglers be confiscated upon being found at a port of entry by Customs or Homeland Security Border Patrol agents. Nonetheless, the temptation might be too much for some, and in exchange for not detaining an illegal entrant into the country, some agents might accept some of the illegal product he or she is carrying or a bribe to the look the other way.
2. Incidences of abuse: When one enlists to be an agent of the Border Patrol, they agree to put their political views and personal prejudices aside. Thankfully, most agents are able to put their ideologies and any ill will aside, or at least channel their feelings into proper administration of the law. Even so, people are human, and the Homeland Security Border Patrol does realistically have the potential to accept extremists, bigots and others who have a lower regard for human decency. Among the atrocities recorded of Border Patrol agents are racist comments, physical and sexual assault, and preventing immigrants from the right to food and health care – even if an individual is trying to get into the country illegally, his or her basic human rights cannot be denied.
3. Ineffectiveness of the system: Perhaps the strongest criticism, due to the sheer length of the northern and southern borders of the United States, it is impossible for every one of the aliens who violates our international borders to be caught by the Border Patrol; geographical statistics estimate the length of the border separating the United States and Mexico to be 2,000 miles in length, and the border separating Canada and the United States to exceed 4,000 miles.
Although the coverage ability of the Border Patrol cannot possibly cater to over 6,000 miles of land, technological security measures put in place have thus far found little success, as well. For instance, cameras set up at border crossings allow viewers over the Internet to be “virtual deputies,” some of whom spend hours watching the feeds for evidence of an intrusion on American. Unfortunately for them and genuine agents, however, few illegal aliens have been apprehended as a result of this method.
